And no, not just because she has written this artice for the papers about me but she herself is an established author and artist. I toyed with the idea of sharng this story with you all but it tells a bit about my history in case you are interested.
It also touched my heart, having been written by such a dear friend. And this wonderful touching story came in just as I had gotten the news of my granmothers passing this evening. SPOTLIGHT ON PHOTOGRAPHY MICHELLE GOODALL AT THE CORAZON GALLERY If you had been opening the mail at any one of the approximately 16,000 U-Haul dealerships in the USA and Canada one day last month, you would have been seen in the corporate newsletter a feature article about our very own Michelle Goodall. Although Michelle is Office Manager at Trinidad Self Storage and U-Haul on east Main Street in Trinidad, the article wasn’t about her office skills, fine as they may be—it was about her other career as professional photographer. So now the news about Michelle and her award-winning photography is U-Hauled all across North America. And well she deserves it. Her photography has been published in the National Geographic and other magazines, and her work has been featured in galleries and museums all over the world. Right now, you can see one of her photographs, “LaVeta Train,” hanging in the Denver Airport. (After the First of the year, it will hang in the Governor’s Mansion.) But the best part is that you can see Michelle’s work anytime at the co-op Corazon Gallery, 149 East Main Street in Trinidad. Born in Michigan, she moved west with her family through Montana, Nebraska, and Aspen before landing in Denver in 1980. There, in addition to her regular job as marketing director and graphics designer for the fifth largest developer in the country, Michelle created photography and Native American art for several galleries. But what brought her to Trinidad was, indirectly and fortuitously, her love of Harleys and moseying all over the Country. After ten years, unbeknownst to each other, Denverite Michelle Herrera and Trinidadian Rusty Goodall had been attending the “Salute to American Veterans” rally in Cripple Creek. One year they met in the campground. Both newly single, they talked casually, but did not stay in contact afterwards. The following year, however, noticing Rusty in the same campground, she tapped him on the shoulder “Hey!” she joked, “Haven’t seen you for a year!” He whirled around, looked at her and said the equivalent of “I‘ve been had!” Eight months later they were married, and that’s how Michelle arrived in Trinidad. They’ve been moseying together ever since. Michelle’s creative energy is huge, and her interests include just about everything. She sees the world through a perspective that records and opens up beauty beneath the surface, resonating with the sensitivities of those who view her work. Besides producing professional portraits, weddings and other memorable family occasion albums (about which you can inquire by e-mailing alockintime@comcast.net or calling 719- 859-0175) she enjoys creating innovative photography for sale to the public. Employing mysterious techniques latent in the computer, Goodall enhances many of her already beautiful shots to bring them in line with her personal worldview, thus unlocking the secrets of her experience and fixing it forever in that special moment of time. Sometimes Michelle employs the computer alone as an art form, creating delicate, sensitive images of mythic icons such as dragons and goddesses. Her website, A Lock in Time, Photography by Michelle Goodall contains images of these art pieces under the heading “creative artwork,” and divides scores of other photographs into categories such as landscapes, people, wildlife, babies, macro work, black and white, trains and motorized vehicles. Now that snowstorms and time changes have signaled the advent of the gift-giving season, it is the perfect moment to begin considering the purchase of original, meaningful artwork for cherished friends and family. The inspirational photographs of Michelle Goodall will be featured the entire month of November at the Corazon Gallery for you to browse, enjoy, and purchase. I’ll bet those U-Haul people all over the country wish they could be here to see them. Submitted by Cynthia Berresse Ploski natan@hughes.net

Hi Michelle. This article confirms what I always suspected about you. You do nothing by half measures; totally committed to whatever is current; humane to a fault. I feel I know you much better now, and all I can say is "Lucky Rusty", (Which happens to be my son's name). God bless you and your family at this time. PAUL

Wonderful write up,now we all know a little more about you. What little I know, all well deserved.
When you get something like this it really makes one feel very "chuffed". Nice words from a good friend, good comments from a colleague, such things are wonderful and priceless. Douglas |
