Default Feeling a bit nervous!

Shooting a wedding ceremony on Saturday. The couple got married last weekend and had a professional photographer there but are having a church blessing this weekend. They weren't going to photograph the church ceremony so I volunteered.

Am now feeling really nervous about it!

I've got a fisheye, a 17-55 f2.8 and a 50-150 f2.8, and a monopod. I don't really want to use flash.

I'm going to the church for the morning to do a couple of hours practice with a model (my husband!) before the ceremony.

I've been looking at other people's photos on FLickr and have a rough plan of what shots I want to get.

Still, even though they weren't going to get any photos, feel terrified!!!

Your D40 can handle some higher ISO levels: figure out where you would consider the image quality to no longer be acceptable. From there, see what you can get out of it.

Sorry I didn't reply at the time, but I took your advice and cranked up the ISO. I used Noise Ninja in Photoshop to get rid of some of the noise and a bit of Lightroom processing and am quite pleased with the results! (Oh, and having a really beautiful bride certainly makes the photographer's job easier!)

The album is here on Flickr Rupert & Alannah's Wedding - a set on Flickr

Here are a couple of faves

No I wasn't allowed to use flash (quite irritating when loads of the congregation were flashing away with their P&Ss!). Actually I think it was probably a good thing as it would have been another element to control and I was nervous enough!

I shot with ISO at 1600 in the end. Yes, really pleased with Noise Ninja, a good purchase.

I used the selective brush in Lightroom to add light to certain areas to make them stand out more, also shot in RAW and was able to sort out white balance and increase the exposure in Lightroom quite nicely.

Aah, yes I think some iso 800 some 1600. Unfortunately I forgot to lower my ISO back down when I left the church and unnecessarily added noise to some lovely portrait shots which I am still kicking myself for (the ones with the ivy wall if you see my Flickr). But at least I won't ever do it again!

I just looked at all the pictures. Amazing shots. I think they will be extremely happy with these shots. They are very professional. Great job.

Anna, those came out so well!!!! Great job! I still do NOT have the nerve to even attempt a wedding. Leave me to the kids and families, LOL!
