I'm leaving Sunday to go to New Orleans. Anyone know of any great picture opportunities that shouldn't be missed?
Keep in mind, that I'll only have a couple of hours every evening to get these in as I will be sitting in seminars all day. We do have one afternoon that we are going to Musicians Village, Habitat for Humanity & Make it Right Foundation areas, City Park and the International School of Louisiana. The hotel I'm staying at is right on Bourbon St. I'm taking my DSLR Canon Rebel EOS XT, Sigma 100-300mm, Canon 28-80mm and my Canon Speedlite 220EX. I do have this camera set up for Cokin Filters if anyone would think I should take these along to. I also have a really good tripod. I can probably leave the zoom at home since it will be close to dark or dark before I can get outside. Any recommendations on bringing more or leaving some behind would be greatly appreciated. The whole French Quarter is great for taking pictures. Don't forget to drink a few Hurricanes as well

Let me add....I have been to New Orleans about 6 times...this will be the first time that I wasn't there to drink and have a good time. Attended 2 Super Bowls there! Lots of the Takey innie/outies have seen my patronage...LOL!
I do have to attend these seminars since I have to go over everything I learn when I get back to my office, and someone else from my company will be there too and may tattle tale on me...LOL! I'm pretty good at landscapes, animals and architecture. Not so good at the people...this is something I'm willing to work on. TY!! |

How about a ferry ride across the river to Algiers Point? With a tripod, there should be a good spot or 2 for a photo of the river, downtown, the bridges, etc.
Audobon Park (down St. Charles Avenue) and the zoo also have some very pretty spots, if you have time. Also, with daylight savings time ending this weekend, how will that impact your time for daylight shooting? I wish I was going to N.O. Have a blast! |

Chip, that's exactly what I'm afraid of...DST!
I may have to just go back to N'awlins when I have the time to shoot. There's just so much to see and shoot. That's a thought and a dang good idea, hubby's never been so we just need to go back when I have nothing but free time. |
