Exif is stored with the picture, in windows just right click the picture then click properties then click the summary tab. (You may have to click advanced)
You can also find Exif on flickr, there should be a link on the right side, under additional information. I'm sure other photo sites have something similar. Last edited by Gado; 10-30-2009 at 12:23 PM. |

Most (perhaps all?) modern camera embed information about the settings in the image file. That, and not perfect memories (or very organised note-taking) is how all (perhaps most!) of the rest of us are doing it.

Its not a stupid question. I was thinking the same thing. I thought my file names just store the dimentions and image no/name thats it! Like how the heck am I supposed to remember what fno/iso/speed months later?
Thanks Gado. I learnt something new today! "Properties". What a revelation! Always remember that there is not such thing as a stupid question because there is always someone else wanting to know the answer too! |

Apparently, I'm not the only one who has a Nikon D50 where the exif info does not show. It's stored in the "wrong place" from what I'm finding on Google. I'll do some more research. I understand Nikon has fixed this problem in the new model cameras and it shows easily in a 100, 200, etc.

I tend to shoot in Aperture Priority (or whatever the Nikon/Olympus/pinhole/etc equivalent is) so all I ever need to remember is roughly the shutterspeed for a given shot. If I'm shooting several frames in similar conditions, I'll tend to remember what the average shutterspeed ends up being for that light level so that's my trick!
