Ripper, good to see what people think. Interesting that comment about "Parents prefer their children on glossy" I guess I'd never really thought about this before...

This question about "which paper" was actually asked of me by Chloe!... Thanks for taking the time to vote on this poll..

Sime, thanks for asking - I've been wondering that too.
I have both types of paper and for some reason feel like B&W should be glossy and color matte.

Matte for people photo's and Gloss for everthing else. I find that gloss looks sharper than matte and matte gives better looking skin tones.

I'm torn... I really like the metallic paper when I get my photos printed lol Not one of the options I know So, I'll probably have to go with glossy because I like bright colours and glossy really suits that.

Oh yes, metallic paper mpix and AdoramaPix both do prints with that... although I just remembered you aren't in the US, are you I'm sure other places do it too. Look for professional printing places and they should have the option. I'm not sure that most quick print places have it. It doesn't sound very exciting when you read about it, but it's kind of lightly texture-y without being that really super high gloss look. It reminds me of the kind of pictures you get when you go to a portrait place.

I always print on glossy paper, and never think about matte.
But it's a long time I did not try and print matte. For my shots printed in photo kiosks, I found a long time ago the matte paper is kind of "grainy" and I prefer the relative sharpness of glossy one. At that time, I would scan my printed photos (I had no film scanner), and glossy was surprisingly better for this purpose.
But i've never come to think that I may though be better is the print is to be displayed in a glass frame.

Worth a try.

I'm well, thank you
