When I saw the thread title I thought to myself "right, time to load the bitter criticism machinegun" but actually that portfolio is really nice.

Clean layout, nice choice of photos and minimal distratction. Also, very consistent throughout and simple to navigate. Overall, a very good piece of work, even for a pre-generated piece.

If I did have to criticise it, AND I DO (else I wouldn't be me), I'd say ditch the "splash image" homepage and just whack your "about me" page there. It's one less click for the end user. If you're REALLY stuck for ideas for content for there, put a blog or something in there or a random photo selector with some blurb about yourself.

When you do get around to making your own site, you could do worse than reading the thread on portfolio design in my sig. You might pick up some nifty tips from people there.

Hope this helped!

Well, I know diddly squit about websites, so from my complete ignorant perspective (which I reckon could apply to most people who surf the web) I think your site it great. It's nice and simple, I love the white background and it is easy to browse around.

As for the images, they are super! I love the shot of the airliner coming in to land! Your image of you is very different - I hope you had a tight hold on your camera...

@ OsmosisStudios , thanks man. Maybe we have seen each other work on deviant. My username is : silverdragon.

@ Andcity: I try to document places with alot of drama, and movement. It's not always succesfull but sometimes it is, especially the plane picture. If you pick up National geographic Magazine in January you will see this picture big in print, right in the beginning of the magazine. My biggest accomplishment so far.

@ morts: I have bookmarked your hints & tips for further consideration when I get around building my other website/blog. About the splash page, there's nothing I can do about it. I have to put a picture there and no text... so it's another limitation from deviantart portfolio.

Thanks!!

I also like your website and your work. The website is easy to load and looks great, I love the white background/overall design.

I wish I had a location like St. Maarten to take shots from. Cincinnati is nice and all. but it's no where near as hot and sexy as the island of St. Maarten!

Very nice portfolio, congrats on national geographic publication.
