Default Damaged sensor?

I've recently bought a Nikon D40x second hand off ebay and had nothing but problems with it, dirt on the sensor etc but I have now come across yet another issue which I could do with some clarification on.

After looking at some photos taken in dark conditions (and in iso 1600) I have noticed an extra mark on the images which is obviously more than dirt and grime.

I've attached an example image along with a zoomed in shot of the mark. I'm new to SLR photography but I've heard of dead pixels, is this one and if so, is this permanent damage to the sensor within the camera?

It's called a "hot pixel" most cameras have them, especially at high ISO and longer exposures. Not to worry.

Thanks for that, one less thing to worry about. Still have to deal with the mark on the sensor which just won't dissappear no matter what I do!

Clone it out in post-processing.

I use Bibble Pro, which has a very effective "stuck pixel correction" filter.

I'm willing to bet that almost every camera has dead/hot pixels, even brand spankin new ones from the factory.
