Currently I sell mostly greeting cards with my photos, but I also sell an occasional print. Right now all my sales are by word of mouth, but my goal is to get some sort of website business started this winter. The competition is a little daunting, but I hope to find a niche.

I have yet to sell any of my photos, but have a T-Shirt graphic that I designed that has sold on cafepress.

I have been looking for more possibilities to sell my photographs.
I took some macro shots that I received some great comments on and I would like to improve more and more so while I'm still learning, I sell those photos that are one of a kind like my Macro shots taken from different angles. I only prefer not to sell those great shots online, but in galleries here in my country. That's one of my next year projects

I have been selling, but tend to be very very careful as to what i put in galleries cause i dont think I am "that" good yet.
The reason I even started is a friend of mine who owns a gallery has seen my work and suggested I eneter a few pieces in an art contest and i won ribbons for all three pieces so I decided to place more of my work in that gallery and from there it has snowballed.
Keep in mind I live in a small town so its easier than if I lived ina large city. Altho i do have a bit of my work in Santa fe which if you havent been there is an artsy fartsy community.
I'm starting to make a small living at this by doing outdoor portraits and selling my work in the galelries. Not enough to love on yet but dam it I'm trying!

I would LOVE to sell some of my photos (never have), but I find photography, for me, to be selfish in that right now, I do it for me, and I'm happy as long as _I_ like the pictures. I don't know if I'd want that to change.

There are three categories that I see...
  • Freelancing (I hate that word): thousands of my pictures have sold.
  • Hired to take portraits: I've made some money this way.
  • Pictures I've taken without first being hired: Never sold a single one, but I've never tried to sell them either.

Where I make money with photography is traveling regionally to take pics at events. I was just down in Tulsa, OK last weekend (all expenses paid plus daily minimums) and will be going to Branson, MO this coming weekend (all expenses paid plus daily minimums). I have ideas that float around in my head all the time about how to make money with photography, but either don't have the time or the drive to actually do it.

Thumbs up sure I do

I kept getting comments from friends and family suggesting I sell my photos, so I finally made the investment and tried my hand at selling. My first sale was in a gallery exhibit that happened through the collective efforts of a bunch of Atlanta Flickr group folks. I bought in to the one night only gallery and luckily sold one of the two photos that I hung, plus that gallery show resulted ina future sale.

I started by applying to local art festivals...it's festival central in Atlanta and I have been in a couple thus far and made some decent money, but I still have a ways to go before I really make back my investment. It's a lot of money up front to look like a professional. I am looking forward to this coming year and hopefully increased sales. It was a big leap of faith but I think I see continued potential for me.

Yes I do sell some of my photos. Actually, I sold some today to a client that wanted pictures of his car for a calendar. Another way I sell them is if I'm paid to cover an event,t hen if they like printed pictures. I print my own, so I have to cover that cost, else I would really be losing out. Of course however, I print, frame and distribute to my family. Without them, I'd probably have nothing to shoot.
