Default Lost passion

I feel even artists need a breather from their work. What a person does can become like a job to them and the fun kinda goes after that. Think about what first got you into photography. Think about that initial feeling (passion). It was exciting and you promised yourself you were going to be the best at it. I am just an amateur and I have had time when I have taken so many photos for people that I just get lost in the whirlwind of pressure of producing great photos and the creativity is not there after a while. I try not to be cookie cutter. I like each work to be different and special and this can't happen if time is of the essence. So what I do is just lay it down for a while. A week, mabey two. When I come back I have a fresh perspective of things and I start fresh. And that my friends feels good.

Read a copy of "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. There are always plenty of second-hand ones around. Do the exercises in it. You'll work through your creative block if you do.

My suggestion is to set yourself the task of capturing "lack of passion", "boredom" when lacking the "passion" its about the only time you are in the zone to be able to "see" the lack of it - might surprise with a great mood shot!

Only because it's been raining for the past 2 weeks and I've not been able to get outside. I should have done some animal shots inside, but didn't think about it and really didn't care. I'm dreading winter if the rain/cold starts this early!

This happens to me sometimes too. Sometimes I feel like there's nothing to photograph near enough that I can get to it before I need to be somewhere. Other times, it's just hard to be inspired. I have three methods for fixing this.

1) Just relax and do other stuff. I don't do it for a living so if I only take 5 photos in November, it's fine.
2) Start or continue a project - eg 365, Shadows, B/W, Animals, etc
3) Read photo books, magazines, websites - sometimes seeing others' work inspires me to try and either emulate or one-up them. Sometimes it even inspires me to think of a completely unrelated photo.
