My family is from WI, and I lived in WI for like 10 years, so even though I looooove sauerkraut and brats, no, it does not go with brats for Thanksgiving . This holiday the sauerkraut goes with potato dumplings. So, you boil up potato dumplings, and then you put them with the sauerkraut in a pan and bake them for like an hour. They come out all nice and tasty. mmmmm Seriously, the potato dumplings are my fav part of Thanksgiving. They totally beat the turkey any day. But because they are so much work, they only get made for holidays.

Oh, and a decision has been made on my replacement dessert... Sponge cake, soaked in chocolate cream liqueur, with strawberries and fresh whipped cream (also with a hint of the same liqueur).

Ah, just settling in after a very tasty dinner. Here was my table (there are notes on Flickr with what everything is):

Thanksgiving Dinner (by -Nicole-)

Oh, and of course, the actual plate of food:

My plate (by -Nicole-)

And then there's my most photogenic food (the stuffing because of all the gorgeous colours and textures). And it's my own recipe that I've adapted from a traditional recipe (what, adding ingredients counts as making it your own...and the recipe is on my Flickr page):

Cranberry Pecan Stuffing (by -Nicole-)

And the last shot, was just one I took before clearing off the table and putting away the leftovers because I wanted to play with the macro setting on my camera again lol

That's IT! Been stuck in my memory 'til now: Natalie Wood, that's who I am reminded of in your recent SP's, and now this one.

Even your leftovers are neat. Incredible.

Natalie Wood. Haven't heard that name for awhile! I take that as a compliment for sure.

As for being neat, if you were able to pan to the left and see my sink or the right to see my stovetop, you wouldn't say so!

Saralonde you nailed it. That's just the way I felt after cooking for 3 days. House too small, too many people, too much food, exhausted but happy!
I started taking some food pictures of the things that were done before the guests arrived and that was all I got. Too busy after that. I wish I had thought of the after photo.
