Default simply electronics...avoid

Just a warning to all on here!

I've just seen an advert on this site for the above company. Their prices are very competitive and some may well be tempted to purchase from them. I would urge you NOT to entertain this company at all...google their name and see what customers have to say about them...enough said I think.

I did a quick google and it seems unsatisfied customers struggle to get their money back.

I'll second that statement.

I unknowingly bought a camera from them via Amazon. It was Amazon marketplace where it looks like Amazon but its actually a 3rd party seller. When my Olympus eventually arrived it was a grey import from Hong Kong and had the official Olympus waranty card removed from the box. None of this was mentioned on the Amazon site I bought from.

It took multiple emails to get a refund, eventually threatening to get Amazon involved got me my money back and even a refund for the postage which simply electronics state they don't refund.

Naturally I used the most expensive courier I could find to send the goods back.

Glad to hear you got sorted in the end. I know of 3 togs that have all had problems with them..2 of them like yourself bought via Amazon and the story is pretty much the same as your own. They both reported the company to Amazon too, but they showed little interest, which is pretty shocking.

Exclamation

I figured I'd add my own feedback on simplyelectronics.net on here too, as I think people would do well to heed the warnings and avoid them. I'm just sorry I didn't research reviews more thoroughly before making the mistake of ordering from them myself..

On February 3 I ordered a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM lens from them - which they stated they had in stock, and I would receive within 5 business days.

After three working days and a weekend the order was still stuck at 'Progressing' - so I decided to chase the order with an e-mail. The automated response referred to 'post holiday delays' in responding to e-mails. This immediately put me on edge as - obviously - a fair bit of time had passed since any holidays of note. I requested a cancellation.

I got a response to the cancellation request the next day (at around 7am) - asking if I'd reconsider. I responded just after 9am saying "no - please cancel". The next response from them was another day later, at just gone 8am - stating they'd shipped the item and asking if I'd keep the item. I checked online at it still had the order showing as 'Progressing' - and there was no tracking number available.

Come 6pm that had indeed changed to 'Shipped' and a tracking number was available for DPD; their courier. The courier stated pick up was at 5.45pm - so just 15 minutes before I checked, and several hours after they'd said it had already been shipped.

They told me to refuse delivery, which would easily be done - or so I thought. After a second delivery attempt to home while I was out they left it with my neighbour without my permission. I completed an RMA on February 15, stating they would need to collect the item and taking my phone number to arrange a time. On Friday their courier came, unannounced, while I wasn't available. On Monday they again came unannounced, but that time I was available. So, they had the item on February 23. I e-mailed on February 24, having heard nothing, to find out what was happening.

On February 25 I got a response saying they'd e-mail me once they received the item and a refund would take 7 to 10 business days. I pointed out they already had the item, and referred them to the DPD tracking page where it showed it was signed for by them.

March 2 they reply stating they had the order and would be processing the refund. I ask for details of when I should expect to see the refund on my card statement. Their response worries me; as they basically said it it with their accounts department to be 'processed'. I ask again for confirmation that the refund has been issued - or for a date when the refund will be issued. They can't provide me with one. I ask the matter to be escalated to a manager, a request they ignore - and continue to repeat "rest assured you'll have the refund as soon as possible".

March 11, more than a month after I cancelled the order, and more than two weeks after they received the item back, and they still haven't issued the refund.

Since I ordered I've read a lot of reviews online with similar experiences with others, having cancelled or had to send back faulty goods, facing delays of months for a refund. I've paid on credit card, so sent all the evidence to my card issuer, but I would strongly urge others to ignore the relatively cheap prices and go with a more reputable and trustworthy organisation - the extra cost is worth it for piece of mind if you're unlucky enough to have a problem with what you've ordered.

regards,
Phil.
