I try to keep to the rules...hard as that may be..I've only been pursuing photography for about 2 years now and still have way to much to learn...As for what makes me happy about my photo's...Hmmmmm? I'm very critical of everything i do (read insecure) so it gives me great pleasure when other people give me compliments about my pix..But still doesn't mean i think they're great....

I "consider" the rules....I don't live by them.
What makes me happy, is when "I" like the results...

Rules are made to be broken. Photography is in the eye of the beholder. What makes you happy is all that counts.

i think eddie is right
i break the rules. rules never go through my head when im taking shots.
whatever looks good through my viewfinder is what works for me (most of the time)
rules are there for a guide - but essentially you develop your own based on your personal style

+1. ive got shots with the horizon dead centre in the frame: typically a no no. But with the subject in front of it, it works.

I find the rule of thirds helpful but not really strict so I tend to do my own things if I like something I look at it a while to see how best to capture it if it is being added to my will return here soon book then I take a few quickies to remind me where I want to go to get better shots .....
