I was sitting out in my backyard today. Eighty five degrees and not a single leaf had turned a beautiful brown. You guys up there really take for granted the beauty of seeing everything die and then come back to life. Can't wait to move!

Ha! Come up here on a -40 day

The worst part of Winnipeg weather is that spring and fall are both about two weeks long. The fall colours are really just a week or so old, and now they are already buried in white.

I hear you there. I do love the seasonal changes, but lately it's been harsh, long winters followed by very cool summers. I never seem to get rid of the winter "chill" you feel in your bones after a long winter. We used to get some really hot and humid July's and Augusts. Have been very mild and cool the last couple years followed by a very early return to winter.

Don't get me wrong...I actually like winter. But just as I couldn't live where it was summer all year round, I definitely couldn't live where it was winter all year round.....and it's starting to resemble the latter lately.

Two weeks of pretty colors followed by 7-8 months of this.....

Winter Road

Yuck! I can already hear my car battery groaning as it tries to turn over the engine in -30F. Also love the heating bill too.

Ahhh, but I digress. We also have some great photo opportunities....like this...

Frozen Lake Pepin

....stupid love-hate relationship.

I hear you on all of that!

I got my DSLR at the end of March and did not have many opportunities to shoot outside then. As much as I hate winter, I'm looking forward to getting out and capturing the beauty of it this time. Thanks for this thread!
