Hi all,
I'd like to ask your help on a problem I have been noticing recently. Maybe I just haven't really been paying attention until now. Anyway, when I sharpen an image in Photoshop it still looks unsharpened/soft when opened in Windows Photo Gallery. I don't tend to print any images so I can't really judge for myself what the quality of the photo is like. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Matthew

An example of the before and after sharpening as well as a screenshot would be great.
One thing to remember: When you sharpen, you do so at the 100% magnification. When you open the file in Windows Photo Gallery, you're seeing a considerably zoomed-out version. The software also doesnt represent colours the best, so you may want to find something else.

Also one thing I've noticed about Photoshop (and it's probably the same in most editing programs) is that it only displays accurately when zoomed to 100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5% etc. Try it, open an image and fit it to screen (ctrl+0 (ctrl+alt+0 zooms to 100%)) and look at the image then change the zoom to the closest of the above percentages (ctrl++ to zoom in or ctrl+ - to zoom out until you get to the right spot). Notice the huge difference in quality?
