Default OK here is a new one for you pro's??

My Aunt is in a nursing home as she is now 93 years old and cannot take care of herself. My dad has been going there daily to visit and check on her. While there he has made some friends with a couple of the residents who also live there and befriended an elderly couple who both are in wheelchairs ( One from diabetes the other from an accident). After having a few conversations with them he finds out on Friday Nov 13th they are getting married at the nursing home where they both live. He started asking questions and he asked if they had a photographer and they stated that they didn't have enough money to hire one for their wedding. So my dad calls and asks me if I would be interested in photographing a wedding. I said NOOOOO I don't do weddings yet. The he told me their story and I immediately said YES! I'll do it.
Now I have been slowly acquiring equipment as I have extra money but I have yet to invest in any type of flash equip.
I have a friend who will let me borrow his hot shoe flash (Not sure of the model) but should I get it or just try to shoot with my prime lenses and not use the flash.
And any suggestions on shooting a wedding where both bride and groom are in wheelchairs????
This is going to be an experience I am thinking......LOL

I have no proper advice but I think it sounds really cute 2 old folk getting married in wheelchairs. Its like something out of a film. Quite romantic really.

Hi WV. We used to own a care home. Had it for 17 years. One time a 90 year old lady (Agnes) married a 68 year old man (Arnold). She referred to him as her "Toy Boy". There were no relatives and the only people at the wedding were the staff and residents. I put on a spread for them and we just snapped away with a point and shoot, and you know what, we got some great natural poses of happy old folks enjoying a day to remember. I left all the photos (paper prints) there when I sold the home, but the pictures took pride of place. Go do it and give these precious citizens an album to cherish. Good luck. PAUL

Thanks guys, Yeah I am sure it's gonna be a wonderful time for the old folks there. I know my dad also offered to sing for them (He sings in a gospel quartet) so we have them covered for entertainment.

Borrow the flash. The worst that can happen is that you don't use it. If you don't borrow it then the worst that can happen is that you'll want it.

How sweet! I agree, borrow the flash or rent one and at least you have it if you need it.

Cool, I called him and he said I could use it and he is going to drop it by Tuesday so I can play with it and learn how to use it before the wedding.
