Have you turned it off and back on again? (the computer)

Tried a different USB slot?

You may want to tell us a bit more about your computer. So far we only know that it doesn't work. Are you using Windows? MacOS? Linux? What version? What software do you use?

Until you get it fixed, you can just use a card reader to load your photos to your computer. WalMart has them for under 20 bucks. They are even cheaper online. But you will have to remove the memory card from your camera to do this.

sorry i didnt give enough information
i use windows vista and i use "nikon transfer" program that came with my camera. up until now it worked no problem. i used it last week. today - not so much.
the computer isnt recognizing my camera at all.
you know when you hook up something into your computer and you get that sound that its hooked up - well i get a sound but its a retarded one. its a different sound. i tried using different usb ports and all of them are the same thing. i tried restarting it too and updating the program and nothing worked.
i also tried hooking up my external harddrive i have and the computer recognized it. its something with my camera.

i dont know what else to say. i think i covered all the info. ask me mroe specific details that i may not remembered

A. Trash camera
B. Trash computer
C. Uninstall and the reinstall your software

If those don't work...

First of all, try to connect your camera to a different computer to see if it works.
You don't have to install Nikon Transfer to that other computer, just connect it and wait for Windows to recognize it.
I doubt it's your camera's fault, probably it's just some bugs that creeped into your software and drivers. The fact that your computer works with other devices doesn't mean a lot. It can work correctly with thousands of devices but not with the one you need.
If your camera proves to be ok, then your best move is to completely uninstall and then reinstall Nikon Transfer. Hope it works.
