Question I need some help with an Artist Bio

I am selling over 30 prints to a local gallery today after work. They want me to sign each print and number them no problem I said. They also want a short Arist Bio this is something I've never written.

What are some things that you would mention in a Bio you create for yourself? I'm just trying to get some ideas here.

Yea the ones I've seen are somewhat pretentious. I never like Artist Bios I thought they were incredibly stupid and often times filled with narcissism.

Its all me me me me me me. Which is why I suck at writing them.
Reminds me of an interview I did with some magazine this week. The lady wanted to interview me but after two and half hours she says, "well, I dont have much about you to write about" lol, all she did was talk about herself

i have a friend who is a working artist in atlanta and i thought a link or two to some of his "artist's statements" would help to serve you......

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...1/ai_n6039274/
written by a third party, this one focuses on what his work is about and a little bio at the end...

Ichter Studios
this link is from his own site and again speaks more of his work than anything

Ichter Studios
this is his bio....with relating info about his background in art.....

and this is from his blog....

Bob Ichter is a.... Misanthropic little lost puppy trapped inside a beer drinking, taco eating, Artist and frustrated Rocket Surgeon/ creative thinker/ trivia whiz/ exaggerator/ mammal/ secret agent/ reader/ covert top of my lungs car singer/ aspiring piano player/ unidentified source/ atheist/ playboy and international man of misery/................. looking for someone with a complimentary personality disorder and a fondness for velveeta cheese product/............... When Bob was a small boy he believed that someday, everyone else in the world would disappear, and then he could then have all the fish sticks and green jello he wanted./.................... Bob Ichter has been called one of the most creative and successful artists alive living across from Starbucks in Little Five Points Atlanta.

all kidding aside, i believe you should start with a very brief bio.....where you were born, where you live presently, you education (even if it doesn't apply to photography), the fact that you are a landscape and product photographer, and a little info that might relate to the work you are presenting.....

my best to you, i have always enjoyed your images.....

Thanks Peep the information you have provided got the juices between my eyes working this morning.

How does this Bio sound so far

"What up peeps buy my pictures cuz I'm broke as joke right now. I need a new tilt shift lens so I can get better architecture shots for you next time.

Pull our your wallet and empty it at the cashier behind jo!"

I kid I kid but that's what I WANT to say.

I'm afraid if I gave you any advice it would just be bragging and arrogant.

Ok, I can't be that mean for that long.

In all seriousness, what message do you want to portray? How do you want people to view you?

Mysterious? Intellectual? Whimsical? Matronly?

Once you have a direction, you'll know what to say.

Ugh I'm not a writer I'm a photographer. This is really hard for me, it's like doing open heart surgery when you only know how to put band-aids on. :: pulls hair out ::

Umm... writer or not you know yourself better than anyone else in the entire world, and you can read and write.... it's a no-brainer.
