Default Windows 7

I just got my hands on a copy of Windows 7 RC. I pulled a HD out of an extra DVR I had and threw it in and istalled it on my old P4 3.0 2GB of Ram. All I can say so far is WOW! My pc is running a heck of alot faster than it ever did with XP when I built it some years ago. So far all equipment has installed automaticlly and is working fine. If it stays this way I am MOS DEF staying on the PC wagon!

Been running 7 for a few months now, I couldn't be happier! I still think when they come out with 1 terabyte laptop drives, I'll tri boot 7, OSX, and Ubuntu. but for now 7 is GREAT!! It's so much better than Vista that there's no comparison!

Like I said, I installed it on my old POS lol and it's running better than XP ever did. You might give it a shot.

For those of you guys in university:

Check if your school/college/uni/whatever has a MSDNAA subscription. MSDNAA is basically a thing Microsoft does with educational establishments to give their students free stuff.

Windows 7 Pro is on there for free, both in x64 and x86 flavours along with a whole bunch of stuff.

In my ignorance as I love my Mac, why is Vista so hated? My kids run Vista and XP on their laptops and neither have had any problems so why all the hate towards Vista? As for 7 - is it ok to use it yet? I always thought it was best to wait a few months to let them iron out all the teething problems?

The strangest problem I've seen with Vista is that every -- EVERY -- time I've tried to help someone connect to a wireless network, it has utterly failed. We then spent an hour trying to get it to work before giving up (and having it magically work later). Vista seems to make things very confusing when it comes to networking. That's my personal pet peeve.

Otherwise, I think that Vista focused too much on eye-candy (fancy interface) and not enough on actual improvements (speed, memory usage, security). Also, those dang user interface warning things drive me nuts (and everyone learns to ignore them anyhow, so they don't actually make things more secure).
