Default Am I odd that I'm not interested in PP?

I'm not sure if I'm alone here, but with the exception of correcting WB and maybe adjusting exposure by +/- a stop, I don't do any real post processing in my shots.

I'm *really* new at this though, so I admit I find PP a bit daunting, but I guess to my mind the idea of taking a shot, mostly as-is out of the camera is what makes this photography instead of digital illustration.

So, is there anyone else that finds 'taking pictures' to be far more entertaining than 'editing pictures'?

Unfortunately, PP has become a lot of people's bread and butter. And instead of being photographers, they're photo editors. JMHO.

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. I don't mean to be offensive to anyone of course, but I see so many massively PP'd photos that they might as well be drawings.

Interesting comments, but please remember that Real Photography included photo processing (dark Room and chemicals)in which all things you described were done. The only thing that has changed is that we know use computers which has made it much more accessible to everyone.

How true some folks go overboard by pping their images to such a degree that they look unreal. As a photojournalist, I'm bound by ethic on what I can do to a photography. Basically, curves, contrast, color saturation and sharpness...that's it. What you see is what you get from me.

Thanks for weighing in Jim. I'm certainly not a pro, and I'm barely even an amateur at this point, but I guess I am just curious to see where people come in on the debate.

In some strange way it comes down to a certain amount of honesty, for lack of a better word.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that this was a hot button...

It's not that it's a hot button...it's an often talked about topic on any photography forum. There's been a few discussions on this forum too.

Righto. I moderate on some other forums, so I know the scourge of duplicate threads.

They're your pictures. It's your hobby. Do as you please, and don't worry about what anyone else does.

If you ever start shooting professionally, then you'll need to worry about pleasing the client. Until then, to what anyone else thinks.

Some people prefer lots of post-processing. Some prefer moderate post-processing. Some prefer minimal post-processing. Some prefer none. Chacun à son goût.
