Is this your first attempt at reading SDHC with that card reader?

If so, I've had a similar issue; a different card reader was my answer. It's inconvenient, but it works.

My older laptop could read up to 2GB, but not the HC cards. Check your system properties and check the manufacturer's specs.

Just do a google search for the drivers and install them. (If you know you cards are compatable with the hardware, SDHC cards are different to SD cards and older hardware often can't read the newer HC spec. SD only went to 2GB, SDHC goes much higher.

Is your machine a W7 (Windows 7) box?

If so, go to Device Manager and see if there is a random device under "unknown". I've seen my cardreader show up as an IR receiver before. Open that and choose "Update Driver". Then choose "Choose which driver to install" and pick the SD reader driver instead of the IR driver.

Windows gets confused sometimes, bless it.

Still, try what I suggested - it might work!

As previously said, it's probably missing drivers or not reading SDHC cards at all.
