I'm certainly not offended and I do definately hope everyone takes any chats with an open mind here that everyone is entitled to their opinion. Would be happy to discuss any of this more but mayhaps we should keep this more photog related..
and SMC, I agree, one of the things I thought of was that it would definately cause the prices to decrease, but could also kill the build quality of some things.. think of the "Wal-mart effect"..

As for the laws.. SMC and I disagree, but I also disagree with most of what our politicians think of for the "greater good" since a lot of it goes directly against the constituion that this country was founded on..
BTW, Japan has much more strict restrictions on vehicle effeciency and emissions.. we aren't the ones that the world gets their ideas from.

Oh no no no no no!

I'm usually the first person to scream when someone wants to limit choice/rights, etc (like the thread about Overland Park and their new photography rules). I just don't really mind CA doing this over in CA. Would I like it if they did it where I lived? Probably not, even though I agree with the spirit of the law, I , too, hate it when gov't steps in. But if CA wants to go ahead with it, I'm ok with it. Haha.

lol.. wow, that is such a contradiction there SMC.. tru, we don't have any control over what CA is doing but if it passes there how long will it take to move to other places? Not that we have the brownouts and issues here (yay for nuculear power!) but even so..

Speaking of which, I was just at Sam's Club and they had an 8-pack of fluorescent bulbs for $10 so I have just about every lightbulb changed over now.

Part of the reason, too, is that for some reason my incandescents will only last about a month before they go out. I'm thinking the power coming into my place surges and pops them. They don't seem to effect the fluorescents at all.

SMC, hopefully you've got your computer on a UPS and surge protection.

I see now that Australia has developed a plan to phase out incandescent light bulbs over the course of the next three years.

Here is the Slashdot article, and the source.
