Canon announcement coming soon!!!

This is what Gizmodo got from Canon about a upcoming press conference.....

During this fall, Canon will make one of its largest and most important launches in the company's history and we hope you can attend. During a luncheon, you are invited to listen to CEO Jouko Tuouminen, Marketing presiden Monica Forsberg and trend analyst Magnus Lindkvist, talking about tomorrows trends and factors of success in the continually more digitalized everyday life.

Rumor is:
Canon turns out the 1D Mark IV digital SLR.

"largest and most important launches" is a bit of a hype then if its just a revamped body.

it better be something like a FF consumer grade body.

I really wish this was an even-numbered year, and all the announcements came out at once around Photokina. 1DMkIV with all the cool new features of the 7D (flash master, LCD overlay, levels, higher frame rate, new AF system, etc.) would be expected.

But it would be cool if Canon had actually meant what they'd said last fall at Photokina when dpreview interviewed them:

All the buzz at this year's Photokina has been around the concept of the 'mirrorless' interchangeable lens camera following the launch of Micro Four Thirds. Is this an area Canon is interested in?

"We welcome this move to activate general market expansion, and we think it's very positive. We're not just observing what's happening in the market with the developments recently announced by Panasonic and Olympus; where we see a new market we are also looking to participate. Regarding the compact market, though you mention it's not exciting, we will come with new exciting developments next year, so please wait and look forward to next year."

I saw the title and thought - "An announcement that Canon will have an annoucement, hmmm, go figure!". You (not you saralonde) sending an announcement about Canon's announcement announcing a new announcement. Funny.

While we are on the subject....
What does Canon do? "Hey world, just so you know, we're making another announcement for a camera you don't need -- much less can afford, it's the xxx model with such and such new features -- not that you actually need or will use them.....we'll be telling you all about it on Monday!!!"
