Default This has really got me stumped...

K so I'm new here, but not new to photography. So hey!

So my trouble- There is a photo/illustration contest at my dad's work and he agreed to submit a picture for me. the thing is, neither of us really have a clue what I'm supposed to take a picture of! here's what the email said:
Quote:
We are accepting submissions for the 2009 World Quality Day picture contest. So, get your creative juices flowing – take a creative photo or show us your drawing skills - and you will qualify to win our site’s top prize – a digital camera!

We are looking for simple, original and creative submissions, in either photo or illustration format, that illustrate quality or a concept related to quality.

There’s no “right answer” – you have the freedom to create or capture an appropriate image that you feel reflects quality, whether inside or outside the workplace.
there was a link at the bottom with examples, but when i click it it says not available or something like that. So world quality day and a picture or illustration that illustrates quality or a concept related to quality.

My idea was something old, but well built like our ~20 year old craftsman hammer that we still use today. Or a watch or something.

Please hurry, the light is fading and the deadline is the end of today

Also, terribly sorry if this is in the wrong section. I looked at all of them and this seemed like the most fitting. :\

Thank you!
-Danny

92! Dang now there's something well built :P

But you think antiques? We have a couple around our house...old trumpet, pocket watches, pins, something unidentifiable...

How about a Mercedes car? That's quality.

Danny, - I don't want to discourage you but I do want to encourage you to come up with the concept. They are looking for your idea and impression of quality.

The email states "There’s no “right answer” – you have the freedom to create or capture an appropriate image that you feel reflects quality, whether inside or outside the workplace."

If it's for your dad's company could you do something related to their products/service?

What very simple image to you reeks of quality? Craftsman certainly does so you're on the right track but can you come up with something els?

Search for quality on some of the well-known photo sites to help get the creative juices flowing. But make sure it's your idea when you take and submit the shot. Just my opinion.

Too bad you only have til the end of the day to take your shot! If there are any local crafts people that would allow you to photo them doing their thing (quilter, wood worker, etc.) that would be something you could try.

Good luck!

No no i completely understand. Yea i definitely want to come up with it on my own. I was just trying to get an idea of what it meant.

You did help though, i will try to find something simple that just screams quality, but not a name brand or anything. just an item.

His company doesn't produce products, but rather services. so i was trying to find some one doing a job but nothing really struck me as a good "quality" shot. Ill keep searching and post my submission tonight to see what you guys think! Thanks!

World quality day -
First promulgated by the United Nations in 1990 to raise international awareness of the important role quality plays in ensuring nations' prosperity; now celebrated annually on the second Thursday of November.

I'd be thinking something from a (insert latest PC word for "Third World") country?

Either that or (assuming your a seppo) something old that made America prosperous?

Good luck

So i found this old watch my mom got at an antique shop and it still worked so i figured "Hey, now theres a quality watch!" :P so yea...thats what i entered. i just found out about it today, the day before they stop accepting submissions. ugh. if i had more time i had a ton of ideas that woulda been better than this...

I took this in my home made light box. Its hard to see in the smaller size, but full sized you can see the nice background. its not all flat black. i put up a black fabric back drop. Maybe you can see it, i don't know.

Well this can either go very well, or very bad depending on how their monitor's colors/brightness is configured since we had to just send it to them as a jpg...Gee. This could been so much better if i had more time...
