Default How do I straighten a photo?

I thought that it would look "artsy" if I took the picture at an angle. Now I'm not so sure. Can I make it level in photoshop? If so how?

kelso depot

thanks

There are probably several methods but one is to click on the Crop tool on your toolbar then hover the mouse outside of the shot and near a corner. Your mouse pointer should change to a curved two headed arrow which you can click and drag your shot around to the desired angle (automatically cropping the required amount).

If you have Lightroom there is a tool within Crop which allows you to draw a line along any edge you wish to make straight (looks like a little ruler).

Well if you do I can personally recommend 'Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Photographers' by Martin Evening. It comes with a DVD too with all the required shot for the video and book exercises. There is also a CS2 version and I believe he is currently outselling the likes of Scott Kelby.

Here is an easy way a friend just showed me:

In your case I'd use the mountains as your horizon and use the ruler on that.

The other (and more accurate way) which is similar to Lightroom is to use the Measure tool, also available from the toolbar to click and drag along a vertical or horizontal edge that you want straight. Then when you select Image->Rotate Canvas->Arbitrary it should put the angle in from the previous step automatically. You just then have to choose clockwise or counterclockwise.

Or there's the simple way in Photoshop of using the Filter --> Distort --> Lens Correction and then press the button that looks kind of like /_ and drag the line along something that should be straight. That will straighten it out for you. From there, crop it. Easy as pie
