ok I now have the funds to buy my first DSLR ... YAY !!! now the hard bit what do I buy my budget is a MAX of £450 I want one that ideally does bracketing has good image quality and a wide range of lenses to be bought after I have gotten used to the camera itself with a kit lense. my list so far
Sony Alpha a350 Nikon D60 with VR 18-55 Olympus e520 Now I know the Nikon does not do bracketing but I also know in just over a couple of years I will upgrade the body. the Oly and Alpha have decent write up in most places I have checked..... So peoples of DPS who have helped so mucgh please let me know which you think would be best. PS landscapes is really what I will be capturing. Also to blow a picture to A3 size what sort of pixel count is best to minimise pixelation and distrortion..... ARGH again my head hurts

I noticed your sig a while back I will be honest Olymups never hit my radar till I read a review on a couple of others and the Oly won out so I looked into it more and the spec is very very impressive and performance too I just do not want to go buying something that I then wish I had something else in a couple of years as I intend to stay brand loyal so I can build a lens collection also .. nice to see what an oly can do in the right hands though looking at your work ..
Look out for blurred shots from me soon ! Till I get used to it lol

I've got the D60 and really regret not waiting a bit longer and getting the D90! The D90 brackets, controls external flashes, focuses better, lets you autofocus cheaper lenses, has dedicated aperture dial, etc, etc, etc.
My vote is keep saving and get the D90! Otherwise I've always been a fan of Nikon and the D60 is still a great camera, you have more lens options than the other option and the best lighting system by far, so go the D60 and know that you will start saving for the D90 (or better) in no time! Is there no Canons in your price range? Have a good one Free

Nikon for me. but honestly go to the camera store and pick up the different cameras. How it feels in your hands is more important than the list of features.

I had used Minolta and Fujifilm camera prior to owning an Olympus. Now I have the 500 and the 520. I did a lot of reasearch before I bought. My biggest hold up was thier lenses can be pricey. They are well worth it tho. AND, you can also get adapters for other lens that are super cheap!

Well I have been to the Lady who speaks sense in my life and she agrees with you after narrowing the choice down through careful questions she agreed the e520 sounds best soooooo hopefuly Friday I will be several hundred pounds lighter in the bank and a HUGE smile bigger on the face ! CAN'T WAIT ARGH the suspense is killing me ! I found a local place that does the two kit lenses for just over 460 so will strech to that and then I only want a 52 and maybe a macro so the rest will be flash etc etc .. !

Way cool! Congrats.
I have also purchased quite a few om lenses on ebay that work nicely on both cameras. The adapter I think was 3 bucks. The only thing is you can only use them in manual mode. But I tell ya for 15 bucks for a 50mm that came with a leather case. I probably have purchsed close to ten lenses off of Ebay and all of them have shown up in perfect condition. What you're going to love about that 520 is the auto face finder. You have to have it on live view for it to work. I hardly ever use it but when I do its pretty cool to all of a sudden see these little green squares around all the face in the viewer
