Default After Some Thought, Need Your Input

Those that read my post from earlier today will understand where this is coming from. After some deliberation on the subject and doing some research I've come to the conclusion that my expectations were wrong. A post in the other thread posed the question about me expecting someone to read my mind. My honest answer that in the environment I was in, yes I did expect their to not necessarily read my mind, but to read my body language and the fact I was dressed in camouflage, standing in tall grass over my head and had camouflage netting over the camera and tripod that I was trying to hide. For someone such as myself that has a long history in the woods and fields, recognizing the situation is a given. For someone not accustomed to that type of environment they have no idea what's going on. Honestly I now understand that unless you've spent a lot of time in an outdoor activity such as hunting, or wildlife photography you probably wouldn't understand. I had to think and deliberate on this aspect for a while, mainly because I'd never had it happen before. As outdoor sportsman we call this woodsmanship.

I've spent some time searching, and I'm sure it is there somewhere but I couldn't find it in the time spent searching. What I am thinking about is starting a series about woodsmanship for the wildlife photographer. All the information I can find is geared around hunting, and even though a lot of the information applies to photography, hunting is something that not everyone wants to know about. Several topics come to mind, ethics, general woodmanship, etiquette, specific specie information, education in communication with others in the wild and the list goes on. Someone suggested on the other thread to use the universal hush sign with the finger over the mouth, that works if nothing is looking at you but the movement of the arm to the face is enough to drive some species into the next county.

My questions to this fine group are as follows:
Would this type of information be beneficial, especially to the newbies or someone who has not been in a prey/predator environment?
If the answer to the above is yes. How to present it, web site, blog or other?
I would like to be able to have other people give input to the information. There are a lot of very experienced people around that could provide useful information. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything, and getting more than just my experience will add to the information and help me to continue to learn.
Thanks for your time to read this and hopefully give some feedback. I apologize for my earlier post, as I did assume that if people are in the wild they understand the wild and that is incorrect.

I think it's a great idea fred. I also think alot of people will find it quite useful. I have about 30 years experience and counting , in the woods ,and would be happy to help out if i can. Unfortunately i only have about 1.5years experience as a photographer

Perhaps a thread in the tutorial section . If enough info is generated, it might be made into a sticky.

It is exactly like hunting with some added things. The biggest being the photographer ethics toward the prey's well being. If you primary concern is not for the well being of the subject, well, I thing one should get out os the outdoor photography business.

Yeah, that would be great!

I'd say a blog would be the best, use something like wordpress with good SEO and link all the articles in the forum so anyone interested can find it real easy!

On the plus side, throw a bit of advertising in there and you might make a bit of cash on the side!

Moose Peterson is probably one of the better known photographers who focuses heavily on biology and "woodsmanship." His BT Journal is good reading.
