I've been in the market for my first dslr for about a month now... after nearly getting ripped off by closeout island, I smartened up and started google'ing "(company name) complaints"... nearly every shop I've come across, whether it's from internet searches or photog mags have complaints lodged against them citing similar bait & switch experiences as I had with closeout island...
My question for all of you is this: Has anyone found a reputable, no nonsense online dealer for dslr's or would I be better off paying full retail at a store in my area? Last edited by G.T.D.Productions; 09-01-2009 at 04:42 PM. |

I've made a number of big purchases from B&H with no problems. They have some of the best prices, fantastic service, and just about anything you would ever need in stock.

I have used both B&H and Adorama for online purchases. They have decent prices and their service is very good. On the retail end I have made purchases at Best Buy which has good prices when you catch the item on sale.
Good luck on your purchase.

Bought my 50D from Walmart.com. Wal-Mart has a bigger selection of cameras online than they have in-store. Also, they do not carry all cameras in-store (some cameras are online only), so be sure to check their website. Cameras are all competitively priced. They can ship the camera to the Wal-Mart store closest to you for free (if not free, shipping is next nothing) or you can have it shipped directly to your home (for a fee). I bought from them because I get a hefty discount. Absolutely no problems purchasing from them. I bought my lenses from B&H Photo. Again, absolutely no problems with my order. From time of purchase to delivery of my orders from both places was only 3 days with standard shipping. To me that is fast. Both places are fast, easy, and hassle free. Good luck!

AMAZON..
Be sure to check that the items are sold by Amazon though, coz sometimes they outsource them from 3rd parties like Adorama and others.
