Default Any clues...please?

My Nikon D300 always saved photos at a resolution of 300ppi, and now for some reason it's doing it at 240ppi. Has anyone heard of this, and might have some answers for me?...I figured I'd ask here before contacting Nikon

Thanks in advance for your inputs
Vinnie

Your camera doesn't save in PPI....It's a setting in your editing software.

OK, when in the past while in Photoshop all the images were at 300ppi, why has it changed to 240? Are you saying it's a S/W issue, and not something the camera is doing?

i had the same thing a while back.

it randomly jumps.

what i found is 240dpi is only prevalent where i create a jpeg from a RAW.. every time i shoot Jpeg+raw the camera created jpeg is 300dpi.

i still havn't found it.. but there is a setting within ACR that you can change as a default output.

240 is the default.

thanks Candleman...that "splains" it...so it's the default setting in ACR, and not a camera issue

Also, don't forget that the PPI/DPI setting affects virtually nothing. It may change photoshop's rulers, if you use them, but if you print with professional services (or even most desktop printers) it just won't matter.

true.
the only reason i was concerned about it was because the stock site i use demands 300dpi minimum.. if its not its automatically rejected.

not sure why Vince wanted it 300

Our labs want 360 for sizes 11 x 14's and up, and like 300 for 8 x 10's. When we were shooting mostly JPEGs the camera always produced 300ppi..when I saw 240 I thought something went bunkers in the camera, but you cleared that up for me, and thank you again. (now we're processing most jobs in RAW)

Interesting fact: in order to get 360 ppi on an 11x14 print, you would need a photo containing 20 megapixels -- getting more common, but still very unlikely!
