Default And when I decided to get the 5D Mark II... D700 Shows up!!

So when it's time to upgrade... Being a happy Canon user I decided to jump directly to the 5D Mark II... Yesss!!!

But then... a link out of nowhere tells me to check the D700 and so I did..

To be honest, with all due respect to my favorite 5D, I think that the D700 beats Canon on some aspects which I find somehow needed:

Noise, Braketing (5 frames vs 3), Speed (5 vs 3.9), Focus points (51 vs 9), built-in flash and most of all... D700 is literally a tank in it's build!!

Now comes my 5D with better resolution, better glass, cheaper accessories and I get to keep my 50mm and 100mm!! ( I still need to buy external flash)

I'm lost...I want to try the Nikon but can't leave the Canon field... AAAAGGGHHHHH.

Just wanted to share my dilemma with you, I might feel better now

Meh, if you like Canon, just get the 5D2.

The D700 is better than the 5D but D700 and 5D2 are two different cameras. It should be the upcoming D700x vs. 5D2/5D3/3D.

I use my 5D2 in situations that do not need fast tracking or high fps bracketing (e.g., portraits, macros and landscape) and the D3 as my grab and shoot.

Better glass?!? I dunno about that. Anyways as already stated if you are already invested in Canon and can deal with the annoying (to me) ergonomics then stick with canon. Switching systems can be expensive.

That being said there are a bunch of people switching over from the 5DmkII to the D700....

It doesn't look like you have that much invested in the Canon system yet....It get's more painful the longer you wait.....

You WILL eventually be a nikon person (or wish you were)!

Maybe because they are. So is the Nikon D40 equivalent.
