Default To honor the brave troops in afghanistan

Here is a link to a great article about the British troops and their sacrifice in Afghanistan....plus some great photos.

The Kopp-Etchells Effect

As a side note, does anybody knows what kind of camera is this guy using, apparently those pictures where taken at the middle of the night, moon light, hand held... Amazing camera performance. I don't believe it's a "normal digital camera", not even a D3 has that kind of lowlight performance.

I *think* it's a 5dMkII.

And yes, the D3 *can* do this. ISO 3200 with a fast lens and some luck/technique... then add a bit of post work.....
Additionally the images are rather small which helps reduce apparent grain/noise.

I would guess it's a full-frame camera, probably a D3 or a 1D, shooting RAW. In post it's then "pushed" probably 2 or 3 stops.

Shots arent bad, actually. Theyre probably also about 1-2 second exposures.

Michael Yon was using a D70 for a while, then went with a 5dMkII......

Even being a Nikon guy, I can understand why.
