Question 5D Mark II or Watch?

This might be a strange question, but I wanted to know out of curiosity:

If you have the budget, will you go for 5D Mark II or an expensive watch which makes you scream "Bling Bling!!"?

Keep in mind that you have an entry level cam and it might be the time to upgrade.

Funny question but I made my mind... what will you choose?

You are on a photography forum, remember?
I would venture to say most people here would take the camera..

Me? I already have a decent watch. Camera all the way. Oh, but could I take a D300 instead?

Watch! Watch! I ain't got no watch! I don't need not stinking watch!

Personally, I quit wearing a watch years ago when I no longer had to make daily deadlines. Besides the extra weight made me walk with a list and I kept going in circles.

Currently I'm saving for a 5DMKII -- and I'm real close. Only a couple hundred dollars to go.

Well, lets think about this. Even if you didn't do photography as a hobby, a watch tells time. I'm pretty sure that a hundred dollar watch is going to tell time just as well as a $2600 watch.

On the other hand, you can't get a DSLR for a hundred bucks. And a $2600 is gonna allow you to do a lot more with your photography than an entry-level camera.

I was gonna say the same thing, this is the wrong place to be asking that question. I have a nice watch, not $2500 but still pricey to me and I still never wear it except on dinner occasions. If you use your camera enough go for the upgrade!

See, the real question here is do you go for a 5DMkII for $2700, or do you get a Sony α850 for $2000 (same sensor as the $7300 Nikon D3x, no?), and save up the $700 towards a ZA Zeiss Sonnar 135 f/1.8?

You know, in any other circumstance I'd say camera. But I have a Tag and an Omega, and they're the bee's knees. They'll last longer too.

Though, on balance, I wouldn't go for one that screams bling. Mine are fairly tame, but that's just me.

I have a movado that I got because I did a shoot for someone. They bought me the watch since I didn't charge them for the shoot. So camera... but the Nikon D700 not the 5DmkII

Edit: If you go for the camera you can always take a picture of the watch and carry that around as your bling.

certainly the camera! You can get a $10 watch and it's going to say the same time than any other watch will do. I don't wear a watch anyway..and who cares about BLING??

That depends on what you meant by 'Bling Bling'. The low end Cartier Tank or Rolex Oyster Datejust costs more than a 5D2. We can forget about the Patek Philippe Perpetual.
