Default Going on vacation to the OBX

i'll be going on vacation the end of next month to the outer banks of north carolina. this is my first trip away from home with my G10 and i really want to take a lot of photos (in 7 days) maybe 1000. that would require me to take at least 143 photos a day. not sure why i'm shooting for such a high number (my goal is to rest believe it or not ), i just picked a number. maybe it will challenge me to see differently.

what's the most photos you've taken while on vacation.

i do plan to shoot in RAW and play with all of the settings on my camera.

i'm also taking my 35mm canon ae1p (3 lenses) and my canon a540 - just to throw in my bag and my camcorder.

any photo ideas or suggestions. i'll be near the beach and will see a great number of light houses, boats, etc. i thought i would focus on themes. one day colors, the next day textures, light houses/buildings, signs, etc.

how do you plan your vacation shots or do you. normally i don't plan, but i want to come back with some photos i can add to my portfolio and i also want to experiment with HDR.

thanks.

My wife and I will be there during Labor Day week at Nag's Head. Looking forward to it. I don't have anything planned...totally random. Fortunately, she like to sleep late, so I'll have early mornings free and I can shoot for 2-3 hours then and I'll take advantage of late afternoon sunlight for a later session, and the rest of the day is hers, even if it means 7 days straight of shopping! Our kids will be meeting us there during the week so I think it'll be lots of fun. Gonna get up to Carolla and Carova to watch (and take pictures of) the wild mustangs that roam the beach. Gotta get Currituck, Bodie Island, and Hatteras lighthouses. Think it'll be lots of fun. I'm sure you'll have lots of great opportunities while you are there. Have fun, be creative, but don't make it be work!

thanks. i want to rest, but come back with a lot of photos, we do go back every year, but this time, we'll be staying in duck instead of corolla. i may plan a day or two out just for photographing. getting all of the light houses would be nice. i think i will go with the theme idea and also casual shots.

thanks.

We go every year! Love it, just take a walk and the photo ops will present themselves.
