Hi,
I just need your opinion on 18-200mm if this is good enough for Parks & amusement centers? Any suggestions? We are going out this weekend.
Thanks in advance.

I think that should work really well actually.

It's probably ideal for those situations. It's extremely convenient and flexible, which sounds exactly like what you want. You probably don't care too much about ultra-high image quality (not that it's a bad lens), so it should be perfect.

For daytime photos, it should be ideal. But if you're hoping to take any photos at or after dusk, or inside, the 50mm would likely be a better choice for those settings (but I tend to prefer fast glass over VR . . . so it could just be me).

Its probably the best possible lens for that where you will want to take both wide and zoom shots. Further, while some don't like it you can get very good pictures with that lens - it is actually one of my favorites and I have a lot of very expensive pro glass too.

Definitely if you are shooting for the fun of photography. It can be a 'maybe' if you're shooting for profit or the art of photography.

I have one myself. Unfortunately you can't wait for the newer model with the focus lock button.

dcclark,
Thanks for your comment. Yes I don't need a very sharp image, I just want to see decent images of my kids and preserve for the future. Thanks

Chip,
Thanks for your comment. You have a good point, I think I'll bring my 50mm also just in case. It's not that heavy anyway. Thanks.

Kirbinster,
Thanks for your reply. I wish I can afford one of your pro glass. I heard fast lens has great results. Maybe in the future. What would you recommend?
Thanks.

Love DSLR,
Thanks for your reply. It's just for fun and a hobby of mine. And sometimes art. It's good to have something you want to do.
I didn't know that there's a new one. How much and how's the review (if it's out yet)? Thanks.

Nikon annnounces AF-S DX 18-200mm VR II lens: Digital Photography Review

It was just announced and I don't have any other info.

However, the existing model has zoom creep, that is why the new model has the zoom lock.
