Hey everyone! I just launched my website and I'm super excited. I know this is to share your shots, but I thought at I could share my website and get your feedback. I'm now taking my beloved hobby to the next level. You all have helped me grow as a photographer and make me the photographer I am now. I want to thank you all for your support and inspiration as I continue to grow and learn.

Right off the bat:
Visually, the design works well. It's simple enough, style is nice. It doesn't really fit with the "Bohemian" idea, but it works otherwise. One GLARING problem, though, is your menu: NEVER have your menu span more than one line. Ever. Ever ever ever. Seriously. On that note: Consolidate the "Services and Fees" and "Book a Session" into the Services page. Just have links from Services to Services and Fees and Book a session. They fall under that heading and dont need to be on the menu. Thus the menu is saved. The other thing is reverse the About Me and Contact pages: Contact always comes last. As windrider mentionned, Im not sold on the image display methods. Flash is fine for this (as it's an element of the page, not the site in itself) but it's too small for my liking. It works, just needs to be bigger. The best way of doing that is to take out the right-hand content bar: We dont need a definition of "bohemian" and having the Booking and Services/Prices on the side all the time feels pushy and unnecessary. Let the images speak for themselves: have the gallery span the width of the page, maintaining the ratio. Other than that the site works: just work on consolidating the Servies and Fees and Book a Session pages into Services and remove the right-hand content column (on ALL pages, as they all feel squished)

I couldn't see the site. I am on a fast internet connection and gave up waiting for the site to load after approx 45 seconds. If that is true for the majority of people, you will lose a lot of interest straight away.
Who are you hosting with? Poor hosts can slow a site down a lot. Also look at loading certain elements of your site quickly, so there is something for the viewer to look at whilt they wait for the rest. |

Love the design!
I'm on 7Meg broadband and had no loading or waiting issues on any page, but if others are complaining about it you may want to look into it. As Osmomis says you shouldn't really have a menu over two lines, although I understand they are your contact and about pages so I can see why you did it. Perhaps moving them onto the same line but sticking a little blank space between them and the rest of the menu will achieve the same effect of separation? Other than that... great site and great images DHG |
