Default Just a little Windows 7 FYI

Windows 7 Ultimate comes equipped with a monitor calibration program.

Just thought I would let you all know if you are planning on upgrading thats it is included.

Windows 7 includes the option to calibrate your display. Calibrating your display ensures that the colors are displayed correctly on your monitor. You can control factors such as gamma, adjust brightness and contrast and color balance. The wizard is very simple to use and each step has detailed instructions and steps to achieve correct color representation.

You can access the Display Color Calibration(DCC) tool from the Control Panel:

Ohhh, nice! I have 2 monitors on the desktop. One big ugly thing and a flat screen. I have fun going back and forth, checking out the massive differences.

Cool, but will it still crash every few hours like Vista?

I'm currently contemplating whether to risk blowing good money on another OS that will probably fail after an update in a few months or whether to swallow my Mac hating pride and get a Mac instead?

Well since I have 3 computers 2 running VISTA and 1 running WIN7 and not one of them has ever had a crash whatsoever I don't think I can answer that question.

Actually I get LESS calls for service on the VISTA machines I have built than I ever got on XP machines and I LOVED XP when it was new.

My MOM even has a VISTA machine I built and I think for the first time EVER she has never called me once with a problem in the past year. Before with her XP machine she had I would get a call at least once a week because she would mess something up.

That's impressive! I don't know anyone that lucky. Mine always fails from RAM issues, I'm running 4GB matched Kingston RAM, but as soon as I fire up half the Adobe suite a few web browsers and a media player (tried WMP & iTunes) something goes horribly wrong and I start blue screening! It's no so bad when I'm not working, but I bought the computer specifically for work???

I probably will give 7 a go before dumping Windows all together, but one more blue screen and I'm gone! I'm not looking forward to the cost of replacing all my software if that happens

I yeah, I had a look at the screenshots from the calibration tool and it looks a bit like the old Adobe one, nothing too flash, but a lot better than nothing

Cheers

FWIW, Linux doesn't need to "Calibrate" my monitors. It got it right the first time I installed it.

I love Ubuntu and run it dual booting on my laptop, however no matter what anyone says the Gimp is not as good as photoshop and never will be

If I didn't use photoshop almost everyday for work (or if Adobe made a linux version!!!) I would be running Ubuntu - but until then I'm stuck with Windows or Mac!
