I've been contemplating spending about $30 at the local mega-hardware store and getting a 12x15 canvas drop cloth and give that a try. Don't know if the color is right, but it might be cheap alternative for us budget hobbyists

I get mine at JoAnne Fabrics - regular price is $5-8 per yd (depending on width) and they usually have a 40% off coupon active. My last 10x15 white cost ~ $24.
