Default Canon EOS 7D Glimpse, Details Leaked

What's $2700, has built-in flash, and comes with an EF 28-135mm lens for an extra $200? According to Best Buy inventory system and this image leaked in a forum, it's the new Canon EOS 7D.

Some more info.......

Here are the unedited emails I received today
“Hey, checked things out at work and the Best Buy inventory system has the 7D in it. The body is listed at $2699.99 with a UPC of 013803117493 and the canon model number of 3814B004. The kit with a EF 28-135, which seems strange to me is selling for $2899.99 and has a model of 3814B010 UPC of 013803117530. The price seems to match the lens compared to the body.

The G11 is also in the system selling for 599.99 and a model number of 3632B001 and UPC of 013803116458.

Interestingly looks like they are coming back with the S line again with the S90 IS. Retail is listed at $499.99, model is 3635B001 and a UPC of 013803116076….”

The same person sent the following a couple of days ago
“I was looking into the inventory system at Best Buy and saw two new products in the canon line up.The description for them is “Canon Powershot SX-A” and SX-B. The SX-A has a model number of 3633B001 and a upc of 0138031133662 and is selling for 399.99. The SX-B Black has a model number of 3634B001 with a UPC of 013803114201 and is selling for 249.99. That is all I can find out about them right now, hope that they make some sense to you.”

Canon Rumors

EOS 7D
12.1mp Full Frame
DIGIC IV
3″ OLED
ISO 100-25,600 (Probably a 50ISO L Setting)
3.9fps

I don't like the 28-135 IS lens. It only lasted one month on my 3.1 MP D30. Look exactly like the Nikon D700 + sub par 24-120 VR deal.

Im calling shenanigans on the e-mail bit, but the model itself might not be so far off. Could it be a way for Canon to fight Nikon in the uber-low noise fight?
Only thing I dont like is the low FPS. I would also suspect it has HD video.

I'm still skeptical. But if that is true, then Canon coming out with a prosumer grade camera that is full-frame really would kick the crap out of Nikon. I'd put up with a low fps if it had low noise capabilities at higher ISO. HD video isn't a plus feature for me even though I have the hardware to at least support the sound aspect. Depending on details, I know that I would wait on purchasing a 5DMkII to see what Canon announces.

If that is the case then Nikon has to bring out a FF in D90 body along with the D700x.

Yep, mentioned it in one of the Canon threads in the Camera section.

The rumours are that it could be a new line, a continuation of the

- 5D
- 60D
- 1D

But I'm yet to be convinced that it's the latter two; most probably that it's the first. I've heard the 12MP rumour, but that would perhaps be valid only if it were a new line. Yet again, Canon did that to the G series, so...

Another image... note the position of the on/off button.

The problem for me with any 7D rumor is that I've been reading them every release cycle ever since the 5D came out...I just automatically discount them all, now.
