Default XP? Vista? 7?

what is your opinion on the Vista as an O.S. ? i have found it rather faulty. i am allways being told that a program is not responding, things crashing, things being slow. the computer takes forever to start (there is no reason for it. i didn't nothig prior to it taking so long). i have only had Vista Ultimate for a month and i HATE it. has anyone else had issues like this ? has anyone gone to vista and gone back to XP ? what do those who have there hands on 7 think of it ?

Default The only thing good about a Vista is the View

Hello Dirt Bike Rida,

We recently bought 6 new Vista laptops for work. After a week we reformatted the HD and installed XP. We had so many conflicts with Vista, especially with some of our older in house programmes.

Maybe Microsoft will finally get it right, but I'm not going to be a guinea pig for them.

Cheers,

John W

Vista is worse than Windows V1.0 :}

Probably MS biggest mistake ever - to be avoided. From what I hear on another forum Win7 is everything Vista as supposed to be and more - faster than XP and even more stable. The only problem is there is no direct upgrade path from XP. You either need to upgrade to vista and then to win7 or wipe you disk and do a clean install.

If you look at the Microsoft OS line-up, you can notice that every second OS is a success and each in between in a total disaster. The 98 was very popular, then 2K and Millennium were not so much of a success , then XP again was, and then came Vista.
If you compare Vista to XP, the security was increased and it has many visual improvements. But, the problem is that it has so many memory "hungry" visual improvements, that it can run smoothly on 2% of the machines out there. And there are some stability issues.

Now, the new Windows 7 should a stable, very fast, friendly, and Vista-looking system.
I have used it (as a Beta version) and it proved all of that. It's much faster and also more stable than Vista. Many of the Beta reviewers in the internet were amassed at how stable it was despite the fact that it was a Beta version.

Some people said that Vista is an XP on steroids. Great looking, but slow in everything else.

Used Vista Ultimate for a year and still have it on my Desktop and other HP laptop and I love it! I have WIN7 on this laptop and I love it also. I have never EVER had any problems whatsoever out of Vista.

Was very hesitent to go from XP to Vista, but bought a new laptop with Vista and haven't had a single problem with it. Could it be that your computer just isn't up to task? I have a buddy who bought a laptop with Vista and only has 512MB or RAM and no surprise, it runs horribly on his computer.

I've never had a problem with my vista laptop. I think vista needs to be factory installed and run on a PC well above the min specs and to only run mainstream software. Then it seems fine. It is a memory hog and if I could upgrade to 7 for free I would but not sure I'll bother.

Does Vista Ultimate need even higher specs than Home Premium, that could be the source of your issue.

I have 2 laptops with Vista Home Premium and a desktop with XP. I have no problems with any. I think that some people have a problem with anything new or different and so, find faults that aren't nessisarily there. If enough people bitch about it, the more faults your going to find. Just my opinion though.
