Default image for credit

i received an email from schmap.com telling me my image (nemo) has been shortlisted for inclusion for their london guide. its a credit only but they do link to the original (essentialy showcasing my flickr account) i know its selling myself short in a way but image credit has started to become usefull (All my images are metatagged with all my details aswell).

i should find out after the 20th if its being used.

Congrats, even though it's only credit, it's still exposing your work and that's a good thing.

Some time ago, there was a thread that people posted their schmap.com selected images. I had one of ducks at the zoo selected.

I personally don't see the problem with "image for credit". It's not much different than a model working for prints. You both get "something in return". You're not a pro making a living from this, and you're not going to get reimbursed as if you are. If you are working towards being a pro, then this is just one of the steps you take towards developing a portfolio and creating a reputation.

These days with supply and demand being what it is, making real money from a picture is just not common, and it will become even less common. I do feel for the pro, but they still have thier place, and they will still be able to survive IMO. It will just be much more "contract based", they will get paid well for being able to deliver what is needed, guaranteed, and do it within the given restrictions/requirements.
In a way it's like buying kitchen cabinets. Want cheap and you don't have any special requirements? Buy mass produced from the depot (or "recycle" someones discards from thier remodel). Have special requirements/want the best? Contract a custom cabinet maker.

As long as they're not asking you to pay for anything, and I'm assuming they're not because no one has come in here screaming for you to stay away, then it's a good thing. Nice job.

This is what i was saying on a different site when i told them, with the amount of free stock sites, standard images dont hold for profit anymore unless its a custom shoot.
