Call and as where to go. Go to head of security the day you fly, talk to them, maybe you could get a separate screening, or a letter stating it is allowed.

I fly a lot on business and always take my camera gear. Depending on what other carry on I will either carry the tripod on or check it in my backage. Never had any trouble with carry on.

My tripod attaches to my backback via a little pocket and a couple of clips and I've never had a problem taking it as hand luggage. I think if you phoned and they were unsure they would say no. Better to show up with it and keep quiet. If they say anything it can go in the hold instead.
