I have contact with a member of a local karst group and am talking to him about possibly getting a photo group/tour in the Great Salt Petre Cave in Rockcastle County, near Mount Vernon.
I've been there twice already and it's a short yet fun cave to tour. Last I was there they had electricity in the cave, and it has historical interest. It's not always open to the public, so coordinating with a member of the karst will be essential, as it is also on private property with gated access.
If we can give him an idea of how many would want to go and what time of year, it would help him see what he can do to help. The plus is that he know some cavers who specialize in photography and could possibly get some to come help out with that.
September is out for me. Between scouting and school my next several weekends are filled already. So I'm just not gonna try to wiggle anything else in for awhile.
I would love to join y'all at Carter Caves, I wanted to go a couple years ago when they had a crawl a thon there, but didn't make it to that either.
I'll be watching to see what y'all do on this trip...really wish I could go, but at this point I just don't see it happening.
To those of you who are going: prepare to be challenged with lighting! But remember to have fun, that's what it's all about!

I am just not fully prepared.. Sandy, keep me updated. But I would love to see what they pull from it.. Even if we are not all in, just learning from what they have done would be more helpful to me, so on the next trip, I have more to work with.. And yes, yes.. Go, have fun.... And we can't wait to see what shots you get to share. I am still in baby steps, so the more I can learn, the better. kj
