Default Self portrait

I have never enjoyed having my photo taken. This goes way back to my childhood to the time a neighbour wanted to take a photo of me. My mom said its ok he just wants to capture you with his camera!! no way was someone going to entomb me in a thing that size so i was over the fence and running off at the speed of light scared outa my wits lol!!
This is the very first self portrait that i have ever attempted and have done many more since then. The photo shows the two sides of me.I am proud of overcoming my fears and facing my demons if you like
cheers and phew!!

Default The thistle that liberated my composition

This picture of the thistle was as I saw it - I planned the crop to 10x8 format at capture time.

The success of this has encouraged me not to be restricted to the 6x4 format of the camera, but plan crops rather than them becoming inevitable when using LR2.

I only have a point and shoot at this time. I know in time I'll have a dslr. It is my goal. Thus far this is the image I'm most proud of. But wait till I get my dslr!

Don't be surprised if you are disappointed with the results when you get your Dslr-I had a friend in the 1960's, and we used to photograph weddings using Yashica minister rangefinder cameras-my friend said, "Wait until I get a Leica, and see the difference in my photography."-He believed that if he had a Leica,he would produce pictures of the same standard as Cartier-Bresson,Eugene Smith,Robert capa et al.,- Boy,was he disappointed when his photography didn't improve, once he had his Leica. True, he owned the best 35mm camera available at that time, but he didn't have the talent of the photographers he idolised. There's a moral in there, somewhere. Yes, I have a Dslr, and several Lenses, but most of my editorial and stock images are taken on point and shoot cameras. Regards, Ken

First of all I want to say that this is such a great thread! So many amazing images! I was reading it from the very beginning and I was constantly tempted to say how great everyone's images are. I didn't post mine because (up until now) I wasn't sure of which image I am most proud of, but now I would say it is this one:

I'm not sure if I'm truly 'proud' of this one because there's nothing technically wonderful about it, but it's the one that I like the most right now.
