Default please help? i'm new at this

hi!
i am about to (would like to) purchase my first dslr camera and i'm female and not very good with gadgets, infact i know very little about them and operating, but i think i can learn. the reason i think i would like to move to dslr is because i want to take quick photos, sequence photos (skateboard/snowboard) and also to do some focus/out of focus stuff...
can anybody possibly recommend a userfriendly dslr for me that will meet my needs? your words are much appreciated

i would recommend the Cannon Rebel XS

very user friendly, fast speed, comes with a kit, great quality photos 10.1 MP and is pretty cheap

There are a bunch of threads about this, and the general consensus is that you should get the camera that fits your hands the best. I have big hands, and the Canon line fits my hands well, though admittedly, I haven't held a high end Nikon DSLR.

Also remember that you are not only buying a camera, you are buying into a lens system. You should look at the cost of the better lenses of each of the camera systems, because good glass holds its value.

Or gains in value... in some cases.

But yeah find the camera that is most comfortable in your hands and the button layout makes sense to you and the menus etc. Get that one....

From the other side of the tracks, there are many who also like the Nikon D40. It too is a entry level dslr. Those two (Rebel xsi) would be the ones you'd like to compare.
Stay tuned for the Pentax & Oly users!
