The biggest challenge in these situations, and the one that separates the "photographer" from the tourist, is to see the tourist sites as a photographer. To capture something unique/meaningful/differently.
That's part of why the pic I added to the "most proud" thread was taken on my trip to China.....I had many very good shots, but I also had just as many which were "tourist snapshots". It's a tricky thing. On the other hand, it's OK to be the tourist and just enjoy the sites... |

Sounds like you made good use of the time while stuck at the airport. Looking forward to seeing your photos. London is a very nice city to be stuck in.

For anyone who is interested...
Here are the best shots that resulted from my day in London. Spare Day in London - a set on Flickr Quite happy to get nine shots worth presenting from one day of shooting and at least one from each location. |

Good for seizing the opportunity to head out and take some shots, I checked out the set on your flickr. I really like the ice cream truck one, kinda fun to turn away from what everyone else is seeing for a different view.
I just got back from a trip to Italy and went to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. As expected everyone was getting their "must-have" shot of "holding the tower up/pushing the tower down." In addition to getting shots of the tower, I spent time taking pictures of a bunch of people standing around with their arms up and hands out, and with no view of the tower in the shot they looked pretty funny. Thanks for updating the post with your pics, they are all well done |
