Exclamation Forum Functionality: Having Issues with the forum? Post here

Hi,

I have been trying to work out a way to see all the threads I have posted in and to get a list of such thread where there are new posts. Please don't suggest the 'Profile>Stats>See all post by' option. I know about it and it is inadequate.

Usually in other similar forums the User control panel does exactly that by listing subscribed thread. One is automatically subscribed to a thread as soon as they post/create. After then, when you later visit the User CP you can see if anyone has posted new posts in those threads. It is a very neat function.

May be it is disabled for some reason but I cant understand that. it is a indispensable tool an I want it!

There is a subscriptions list but i cant understand what it is for and how it works.

I couldn't figure out whether to write an email or post somewhere else but posted here to see if the function is working for other users.

Thank you.

Under "Quick Links" there's a link to subscribed threads. Does that not do what you want? It should show you all your subscribed threads and indicate which have new posts.

Also do you have your settings set to automatically subscribe you to any thread you post in? That's in the user CP under Edit Options.

Will choosing 'No email Notification' from the dropdown enable automatic subscription and as it says I wont get emails for new posts?

Thanks for the very quick help.

Yes, it will. If you choose "No email" the threads will be listed in your subscribed threads, but you won't get email updates (that's the option I use)

While on the subject of functionality maybe someone can help me on this. When i open a thread i see on the right side what i think is an advertisement bar and another one a couple of posts down in between the posts. Both of them display as page not found. Thats bad enough but if i use my browser back button i have to hit it 3 times to get out of the thread. What a pain. Any ideas how to fix this?

They display fine in IE, FF, Chrome and Safari for me, on three different computers in two different physical locations (I don't notice ads, seems everyone else takes issue with them?) - I click back once to get out of a page unless I have contributed to that page, in which case clicking back would take you back to your edit, and then back once more to before your edit and then once more to get back to the main page, is this what you're talking about?

Maybe try clearing your browser cache?

Sime

That works perfectly. I would also suggest this be enabled by default for new users as it is an expected function in my opinion.

Thanks

That means the advt servers are blocked/unreachable from your pc. Could be a add blocking software or faulty network configuration(DNS).

If you explicitly want to block adds I suggest Firefox with AbBlock Plus addon. It will be like they where never there.

I'm using Internet Explorer. If i have not responded to the post it still takes 3 clicks of the back button to get out. I'm not complaining about there being ads its more a) they don't display b) and most bothersome the 3 clicks to get out.

I am running Spysweeper and McAfee

To be frank it is tough to help with a solution when we only know the symptoms and not the patient.

The best way is to use an alternate or get a friend/TechGuy to fix it.
