I went out earlier today just looking for something to grab my attention, something that screamed "TAKE A PIC OF ME!" Well, I didn't find anything. On top of that, it started raining one of those rains that continually pitters, and occasionally comes down hard in spurts so you don't have much of a chance of staying dry. So, I spent most of the day indoors at home until I went to pick up my son from his day with my mother-in-law.
We had some time to kill until my wife got off from work, so we went over to my mother's house to let her get her lovin' in on him. During a rare lull in the rain, we ventured outside. My boy's a two year old, and he loves to play with bubbles, something my mother keeps him well stocked with at her house. He didn't play with them for very long (or I would have taken some pics of that) because he got distracted by a pair of horses that my sister has grazing in the fields around my mother's house. The horses were dirty due to romping around in the rain and mud, so they were of little interest to me as subjects. However, while standing at the gate that my boy was attempting to climb over in hopes of getting to the horses, I spotted an old truck that my brother and father had used back in the 70s and 80s to haul field stone from our rock quarries to construction sites where they would install it. The truck had been put through its paces, having made hundreds of trips back and forth between the quarries and wherever they were installing the stone. There were several dings, dents, and rust spots where it had been buffeted, bumped, and scraped while performing its intended duties. Since both my father's and brother's passing, the old truck was put to pasture, and will likely stay there until it rusts away. Grass, and trees are beginning to creep up around it, and will likely envelope it completely some day. I didn't have my tripod out, so the following image is a bit fuzzy, but I like it just the same. ![]() So, have you ever had a day where you couldn't find anything to capture, and then were surprised by something that had been staring at you for a long time?

Thanks to both of you. I do plan to go back sometime soon and get a few better shots, likely this weekend.
