What's the protocol/etiquette for taking random people's pictures? If I ask first, it might ruin the activity going on, and ruin the shot. Would you ask after, show them the picture, and offer to send them a copy? I like taking pictures of people doing things, weird people, interesting things ya know? But I don't want to make people mad/upset while doing so.

The only time someone got mad, I was on the boardwalk at Venice Beach. I was not aware, that if you to a photo of the assorted strange folks standing around, that they expected a tip. If he would have told me that it was customary to do so, no problem, but he got real rude, real fast. That was awkward.

Here's a tip. Don't wear those pants with that shirt. It's tacky!

I normally dont ask. But if I want a close up I do. The problem with asking tho, is people tend to pose and get the big cheese grin on thier face.lol

It seems to me that in tourist type areas people know they'll be in shots. If your shooting just that person that might be another story. If they see and upset you can always clear off your camera and show them for proof.
