I purchased and read Scott Kelby's "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers. Had half the book read when I finally made the purchase and it was great. The program didn't feel strange at all. Scott does a great job walking through the program.

I went on the Worldwide Photowalk and as a free bonus, got a free month of Scott Kelby Training. The guy that runs the Lightroom Killer Tips website has a series of videos on their for Lightroom training and they are great. I've learned stuff about lightroom that I didn't have any idea you could do. For the $20.00 (US) a month, it might be something you may want to check in on.

If you are going to keep Lightroom & use it as a picture management & workflow system.
I suggest not to import all your pictures in a complete batch, in a mix-up of folders. Start with a new folder structure (the lightroom way, it might be per date or else) & import/copy the pictures to the new structure one subject or group per import. This way you will re-organize all your pictures & have the opportunity to fill the metadata at the import rather than as an aftertought.

I love Lightoom and setting up special presets helps with the workflow. I set up one called Up vibrance, contrast & clarity. One click on this preset and my pictures come to life nicely. Go to Killer Lightoom Tips too as suggested and get some presets such as the New York preset. It's pretty nice.
