Default Photo Blogging

Hello,

I'm pretty new to the idea of photoblogging, but more specifically the idea of subscribing to people's blogs. Basically, I almost never check my blogger page to see updates on the blogs i have subscribed to...is there something you can either sign up for or do that will send you emails when people update their blog? It would make my life a whole lot simpler to just have their new postings show up in my email, or at least an alert to tell me to visit the blog.

Thanks for any input!

You can use any sort of feed reader (I use Google Reader). Just copy the RSS feed to your reader, and any updates will come to you automatically.

Yes, some kind of feed reader is the best solution. I've tried several over the years but have been with Google Reader for a year or two now. I've got feeds from all sorts of websites, divided up into categories and the Google Reader site is one of my most regular visiting points on the web because it lets me stay up to date with all of them.

Same here, pretty much use google reader exclusively, except for the inbuilt reader in Opera (web browser - most peeps here might already know that, but just sayin' incase ) which is where I place most of my subscriptions to photoblogs and related sites like DPS.

I think a number of browsers now offer in-built RSS readers, so if you're not a huge RSS-power-user it may be worth finding out how to use the one in your browser.

Google Reader is at the top of my list. Some blogs allow you to subscribe via email, but not all. Give a feed reader a try. I find it addicting!

An online reader has a strong advantage over a browser based on if you regularly access your feeds in more than one location. For example, my collection includes lots of web development stuff as well as music, photography, news from friends, etc. Therefore it helps a lot that what I read at work is ticked off when I check again at home.

If you only work from one computer or have clearly separated sets of feeds that advantage isn't so important but for me it is a compelling reason to use an online solution.
