So I'm headed to Comic-Con in a few days. I'll be sitting in these darkened convention rooms, the panel attendees lit up nicely on stage.
My concern is that my camera uses the flash to attempt to auto focus on a distant subject. I cringe thinking if I were sitting next to or in front of me so I'm trying to figure out a few things. I had a Sony P-150 point and shoot and it had an infinity setting that eliminated the camera from trying to focus. On my Olympus e-520, I could use "live view" mode, with the ISO set high enough, but what I'm curious about is how would one set the dang focus to an 'infinity' like setting that forces the lens / camera to not try to focus close up? I can't find anything even closely related to addressing an infinity like setting in the manual. |

The new lenses that go with the Olympus E-520 don't have that. The focus ring is more of a fine adjustment tool than a classic focus ring.
I think, (I'll try this!) if I were to spend about 2 minutes rotating the ring, maybe I could get it to infinity though. I didn't think of that. Thanks for the input. |

KODIAKSTAR: Thanks Kodiak... I'm jealous. I like the idea of the 2 lenses that came with the camera. That made it pretty kick butt, yet as I use the beast, there are a few limitations I keep running into. (Can't afford any other lenses at the moment.)
(Limitations) Nothing serious, but maybe I've been spoiled by that dang point and shoot I have. FLETCH: That's what I was thinking of doing to see how or if it works. I presume you've done this? Or was this just a good idea you've had on the matter? (Thanks) |
